A Fernandez Family Affair!

On Saturday, July 18, 2009 we celebrated the wedding ceremony of Michelle Fernandez and Eric Fernandez. As the sun’s rays shined through the beautiful stained-glass windows of St. Hugh Catholic Church, Michelle and Eric exchanged wedding vows in front of family and friends. Bringing a unique, personal touch to the ceremony, La Coral Cubana sang and before being whisked off to the reception, the Bride and Groom toasted with champagne! Congrats to The Newlyweds! We hope you’re enjoying the honeymoon!

We're not wedding planners....we are Event Organizers!

I often bump into people who ask..."What have you been up to?" After the quick summary...they'll state "So you're a wedding planner?" Well, not exactly!

Event Organizer: a person who assists you in organizing and executing an event

That's who we are...Here are some details about other events that KIT has organized in 2009!

My Dad's retirement party....
After 25+ years at Gunderlin Ltd., my father decided to retire. For months, we discussed how to celebrate, where to celebrate, with who to celebrate...we knew one thing, there needed to be Chilean wine!

I finally surprised him with an afternoon party at Neo Lofts Zen garden. Formal invitations were sent, and guests signed up for the retirement party of the year..

Below are pictures of my dad's retirement party...

Centerpieces represent my dad's love for reading the herald, his passion for soccer, a flag of the country where he is currently living, and the "special edition" of the herald - Pedro's life story in the Sunday Paper!

It was an honor to plan this celebration event for my father. I know he will remember it for days to come....

Michelle's 15's Party!!!

When we started talking about hosting Michelle's 15's I knew it had to be an original "Michelle" event!

Her rock star themed party consisted of a red carpet, finger foods menu, and dance music. We had a surprise slideshow courtesy of Ashley, with the cake cutting that followed. As we sang her happy birthday, the guests were able to enjoy the Miami skyline and sparklers. Upon entering the clubhouse, we greeted her friends with a virgin strawberry daiquiri...then the decor changed. Glow in the dark necklaces, bracelets, and purple martini glasses changed the entire mood. You think we ended there?! A candy buffett and cupcakes to go were a hit with each guest!

Check out the birthday girl and pictures from her 15's!

I had so much fun preparing and planning for Michelle's 15's! She looked BEAUTIFUL in her hot pink dress and converse....I look forward to planning many more parties for her...

Victoria's 13th Birthday!

For months my good friend Raquel, owner of Sweet Memories, and I discussed her daughter's 13th birthday party. The transition into the "teen" years had to be fun! She decided to go with a Mardi Gras theme, and I was there on the big day to assist her with set up and decor. Below are a few pictures of her party

3 years later....

Yes! 3 years ago I opened my company! My idea was to start a professional organizing company and only focus on that; working with people to organize their personal space and business....hence the concept of keep it together; we don't just help you get it together, but teach you how to keep it together. For the first few years, I did just that. I rearranged, planned, and executed projects from small closets to a full house!

During the day I would teach, and at night and on weekends I would organize.

One day I was given the opportunity to speak to a group of teachers on organization...specifically how to organize their classroom for the first days of school. Thanks to the Dade Reading Council, my speaker series took off! I began to speak about topics such as organization of children, time management in the business world, and how to manage a busy family schedule.

October 2007, I bump into an old friend and sorority sister, Mayra Etayo, owner of Not Just Calligraphy. Mayra invites me to join her in the world of trade shows....after a phone meeting, Keep it Together teams up with NJC to host bridal shows in the South Florida area. At the same time a good friend, Yogi Misir, owner of Cape Cole, hires me to work with him and his clients with the planning of their corporate events.

November 2007, another old friend and sorority sister, Naomi Valle, asks me to coordinate her wedding. By this time, I was already researching event planning, and had begun to map out KIT's future to include events. I said YES! and from that day I bring you to today...

Currently, Keep it Together is a professional organizing and event planning company. Based out of Miami, Fl, I am now living out of Durham, NC.

With five weddings coming up in 2009, I have brought in an excellent, detailed, and creative person to work with me...Naomi!

Naomi and I have planned events together since 1998, when we met at Florida International University. Our love for events, and attention to the smallest detail is what makes us a fantastic duo. Individually, we each bring different views and experiences to each event.

As you can see, KIT has evolved in the past 3 years...with endless possibilities, who knows what will come next. All I know is that whatever comes will be shared with you here, so K.I.T. (keep in touch!)
